Eric North

Eric North, Production Lead, EZ-Dumper®, Chambersburg, PA

Takes pride in his TEAM’s success. Leads by example. The definition of dedication.

Thirty-one years ago, following his service in the United States Army and one year working as a welder, Eric North began his career at EZ-Dumper®. Shortly after starting, he was called back to his previous employer; he worked for three weeks and was laid off for a second time. “I called EZ-Dumper® and told them I’ll never leave again, if they take me back…and I’ve been here ever since,” Eric says.

In 2019, EZ-Dumper® became part of the Olympic Steel team and relocated to a space within the Chambersburg, PA facility’s 1530 building.

“I’m proud to have served in the military, but my dedication to the Company – making EZ-Dumper® work and be successful – is what I’m most proud of,” Eric says.

Eric has a lot to be proud of regarding his own success, too. He is an Fe Award Winner, Certified Trainer and “go-to guy” for his teammates. He credits Jim Post, Regional Vice President and Chambersburg General Manager, and Jay McCarty, Chambersburg Operations Manager, for helping him develop his career with Olympic Steel, saying “Their support and encouragement mean the most.”

“Eric is extremely dedicated to the facility and to the EZ-Dumper® brand,” says Jay McCarty. “He is always willing to help out when needed and has a deep knowledge of all aspects of the product line – he is EZ-Dumper®!”

Being proud of the job he does makes Eric happy to come to work each day. “I have a sense of pride in what I do knowing I’ve done my best to create a quality product. When I see something I’ve built, or helped build, go down the road, it makes me proud to know I was part of making that happen,” Eric explains.

With Eric’s leadership, the small (but mighty) EZ-Dumper® production team tackles challenges head on. “No matter what we’re faced with, we do our best and, for the most part, it all works out. You don’t know what you’re capable of until you give it a try,” says Eric.

With thirty years of experience behind him, Eric looks forward to continuing the work that makes him happy and shares this advice for how to build a great career with Olympic Steel: “Do your best every day, take the advice that’s given to you, learn from your mistakes and be proud of the work you do.”
