Jamie Steichen, Account Specialist, Chicago Tube & Iron, Ankeny, IA

Solution seeker. Prioritizes the success of the team. Personifies our Integrity Core Value.

Thirteen years ago, in 2011, Jamie Steichen accepted a temp-to-hire Office Manager position at Chicago Tube & Iron’s Ankeny, IA branch. She was hired full-time in 2012 and one year later added Branch Quality Administrator to her role. In 2019, during the transition to Epicor (CTI’s ERP system), Jamie was asked to join the core team for the launch, writing work instructions and procedures. After a successful Epicor integration, in 2020 she moved into the sales department as an Account Specialist.

“I enjoy sales – the work varies, I always have something to do, and I’m presented with different challenges every day,” Jamie says. “I relish the challenges – they’re like puzzles that need to be solved, and it feels good to be able to find a solution.”

Finding solutions is one of Jamie’s strengths. She recalls her involvement in the Epicor integration and says, “It was the challenge I was looking for at the time. I was mature in my position, and it gave me the opportunity to fully utilize my potential and gain new skills while continuing to produce results for the Company.”

“Jamie challenges us to be better. She is smart, organized and well-versed in our processes. And she’s able to navigate challenges on a consistent, reliable basis. With a positive attitude, she holds others accountable, motivates them to do their best and is always willing to help,” says Bob Harville, CTI’s Western Region Vice President.

That helpful nature is simply part of the culture, according to Jamie. When asked what’s aided her most during her career, she said this: “Mentoring and support – we have a culture that encourages people to be helpful and go out of their way to make sure their peers succeed. If you reach out or ask for help, people are always willing.”

When asked, Jamie feels she best represents our Integrity Core Value. She explains, “Be true to your word; show up to be the person you are – with every interaction. When your actions match your words, others will recognize that you’re a genuine person who can be trusted – and that’s a person people want to work with.”

Jamie’s a straight-forward person who prioritizes her work so she can maximize her impact. Simply put, she offers this advice for how to build a successful career with the Company: “Show up and work hard - be present and enjoy what you do every day.”
