When standard PPE was hard to come by, Andy Markowitz found an out-of-the-box temporary solution to keep all employees healthy and safe.
One month into Ohio’s stay-in-place order, disposable face coverings were hard to find. Personal protective equipment and disinfecting supplies were not available and wouldn’t be for the near future. Olympic Steel leadership knew they had to get creative to provide face coverings for employees, ahead of any state recommendations requiring their use.
In true Olympic Steel fashion, Andy Markowitz, President of Specialty Metals, thought outside the box and introduced a temporary solution to the supply issue – cloth face coverings. A local supplier was able to quickly produce 4,000 logoed face coverings – enough for employees at every division across the Company.
As an essential business working through this pandemic, Olympic Steel remains focused on protecting the health and safety of all employees. In a time when we are all dealing with unknowns, one thing you can count on is that we’ve got you covered.
