2021 Safety Performance and Looking Ahead in 2022

We took big steps forward in 2021 and plan to continue the momentum throughout 2022.

Last year, across the Company, we accomplished big things in Safety:

  • 38% increase in Poka Yokes submissions
  • 44% increase in Near Miss reporting
  • 206 Safety Committee meetings held
  • 313 PPE assessments completed
  • 411 Job Safety Analyses reviewed
  • 545 Lock-Out, Tag-Out procedures reviewed
  • 1080 Safety / 5S / Housekeeping walks completed
  • A total of 4,198 safety actions completed

These statistics represent our continuous efforts to develop a Safety culture of learning. And, we’re committed to continuing this mindset throughout 2022.

2022 Safety Action Plans

  • Our five baseline Safety goals remain the same (1-5 below) and we’ve added three new goals, for a total of eight (8) required safety action plan items for all locations in 2022.

Create a Safety Committee or Safety Team and meet monthly.
  • Create or review / update Job Safety Analyses (JSAs).
  • Create or review / update all Lock-Out, Tag-Out (LOTO) policies and machine-specific procedures.
  • Complete all required Safety training.
  • Conduct weekly Safety / 5S / Housekeeping walks.
  • NEW! Complete a Dock Safety or Traffic Safety Improvement Project.
  • NEW! Complete Poka Yoke Safety Improvement Activities at least 1x/quarter.
  • NEW! Document Near Miss Events at least 1x/month.

Achieving these goals is an all-in team effort across the Company, and we’ll all be better (and safer) for it. As we approach the end of the first quarter, think about how you can help us achieve these goals in our effort to Be Safe, Be Profitable and Be Engaged.
