About Action Stainless & Alloys

Action Stainless & Alloys, based outside of Dallas, Texas, is a full-line distributor of stainless steel, aluminum, and other hard to find alloys and offers a complete range of processing.

In December of 2020, Action Stainless & Alloys joined Olympic Steel’s specialty metals segment, providing additional product and processing offerings and expanding our footprint and market reach.

HISTORY

Action Stainless & Alloys was formed in 1982 by three knowledgeable steel industry partners. In 1992, it was sold to Tomen America. It was purchased in 2000 by an employee, Lee Martinson, who served as President until he retired in 2023. That same year, Jess Burroughs joined Action Stainless our Specialty Metals segment as Vice President – Action Stainless & Alloys.

Action Stainless operates 145,000 square feet of warehouse space across locations in Dallas and Houston, Texas; Springdale, Arkansas; Rock Hill, South Carolina and Kansas City, Missouri.

The business boasts an experienced workforce of 85 employees with an average employee tenure of 10 years. In fact, five employees began their journeys working in the warehouse and transitioned to careers in sales more than 15 years ago. The longest tenured Action Stainless employee is Howard Ward, a truck driver in Springdale, Arkansas, who has been driving for the company for 38 years.

PRODUCTS

As a full-line distributor, Action Stainless stocks flat and long products including stainless plates, sheets, angles, rounds, flat bars, tubing and pipe and aluminum products.

A complete range of processing across Action Stainless facilities includes machining and fabrication, with a variety of value-added services such as cutting and forming parts, custom packaging, kitting, and stock and release programs.

The Houston location offers plasma, laser and water jet plate processing within the same facility, which allows fulfillment of multi-line orders to varying tolerances. Key processes in other facilities include plasma plate cutting in Dallas and fiber laser processing in Springdale, with centerless grinding, saw cutting and CNC machining capabilities in Rock Hill.

With a very diverse customer base, Action Stainless serves industries such as rail transportation, food processing, water treatment, petrochemical, oil and gas, power generation and more. These customers have utilized Action Stainless in providing materials and fabricating dies and parts for some interesting things – conveyor lines that make Cheetos, dog food and ice cream; steering wheels for stock cars; tanks for breweries and distilleries; butterfly valves for water parks and municipalities; commercial barbecue smokers and pizza ovens; rail cars that transport food; GE transformers for electric lines – and many other items you may use on a daily basis.
