All About Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance

What you need to know about our medical, vision and dental insurance, plus links directly to more information.

Every year, we share information about our WellPerks Wellness Incentive and Healthy Day Off – both are programs designed to encourage completion of your annual wellness exam every year. Because we believe this annual visit to your doctor is an important part of establishing and maintaining good health.

NOTE: To qualify for the 2024 WellPerks Wellness Incentive and use your PAID Healthy Day Off, you need to complete your annual wellness visit by September 30, 2024 and upload the wellness visit completion form to your UKG profile. Click here for more info, including a link to the completion form.

Equally important are regular dental and vision check-ups. Below are commonly requested bits of information that might make it easier for you to begin scheduling these annual and bi-annual check-ups more regularly – maybe even scheduling these visits on the same day as your annual wellness exam to really take advantage of your annual PAID Healthy Day Off!

MEDICAL INSURANCE

Our medical (and prescription) coverage is provided by UnitedHealthcare (UHC). With our UHC plans, you are not limited to specific providers, but using an in-network provider will give you the best coverage. That means you’ll pay the least amount when using an in-network provider. Olympic Steel offers two medical plan options that allow employees to choose which plan best fits their needs.

DENTAL INSURANCE

Our dental insurance is provided by Delta Dental of Ohio. With our dental plan, you can receive care from any dentist or dental specialist you choose. If you see an in-network dental provider, your out-of-pocket costs will be less than using an out-of-network provider.

VISION INSURANCE

Our vision insurance is provided by VSP (Vision Service Providers). With our vision plans, you can see any doctor. If you see an in-network provider, you will receive the maximum benefit for the plan you choose. NOTE: You do not receive an insurance card for vision; your enrollment is validated through a check by the service provider using your social security number.

We offer four vision plans to help our employees cover the costs of vision expenses (Core Plan A, Core Plan A+ Lens, Core Plan B and Core Plan B+ Lens). The level of coverage varies for each plan and so does the weekly cost. All four plans are available for single or family coverage. Annual eye exams (by date, not calendar year) only require a copay when you’re using an in-network provider.

BUT, WAIT - THERE’S MORE!

In addition to medical, prescription, dental and vision insurance, we also offer life and AD&D insurance, disability coverage, critical illness coverage, accident coverage, flexible spending accounts, and more. Find all the details at SteelPerks.com.
