March 2021 Safety data is in, and our relentless dedication to Safety is showing results!
Our Key Performance Indicators (KPI), the measurable values we use to evaluate our progress toward meeting our Safety objectives, again showed improvement in all three categories – OSHA recordable injuries, Other Case Incident Rate (OCIR) injury events and Days Away, Restricted or Transferred (DART) injury events. Here are the highlights:

In addition to the improvement we’re showing in our Key Performance Indicators, thirteen divisions finished the quarter with ZERO OSHA recordable injury/illness events. Congratulations to the employees at these locations for staying focused and staying safe:
As we head into the second quarter, continue to share best practices through poka yoke and near miss reporting. In March, divisions reported 6 poka yokes and 8 near misses. Read more about it in the Monthly Safety Report on OSSIE, the Olympic Steel intranet.
