Cassy Powers

Regional Human Resources Manager

Energetically accomplishes goals. Approachable advocate for all employees. Proud leadership partner.

Cassy Powers is on a mission – a mission to make a difference for Olympic Steel’s employees and for the Company. It’s a good thing she is bursting with energy and has a knack for making strong connections with everyone she meets. It’s helping her build an impressive career and establish a reputation as an advocate for employees and a reliable partner to Olympic Steel’s Leadership team.

Cassy began her career at Olympic Steel in 2016 as a Corporate Recruiting Supervisor. In this new position, for Cassy and for the company, she developed an effective recruiting process and established recruiting as a partner in the business.

With a plan in place and solutions ready for discussion, Cassy tackled challenges head on with direct communication and transparency. She visited every division in less than six months to get to know employees and leadership teams. She strengthened compliance efforts, reviewed and renewed processes, implemented an applicant tracking system and collaborated with each division to develop effective recruiting strategies. After about a year, she was promoted to Corporate Talent Acquisition Manager. In late 2018, Cassy continued her momentum with a promotion to Regional Human Resources Manager. In this role, she oversees the Recruiting Department and manages employee relations for five Olympic Steel divisions: Minnesota Plate and Coil, Chambersburg, Cleveland and Dover.

Even with those personal and professional successes, Cassy’s most proud when employees grow and succeed. She emphasizes, “Our people are everything. Without them, we have nothing.” She’s proud to partner with the leadership team as an advocate for all employees, and has played a key role in developing several other employee programs and initiatives, including enhancing our focus on diversity and inclusion, redesigning Olympic Steel’s onboarding process and identifying new opportunities for employee recognition.

Cassy not only believes a positive attitude, open conversations and solid feedback will help you build a strong career at Olympic – she’s proved it.
