Chad Slygh

Account Specialist, Chicago Tube & Iron, St. Paul, MN

From shop helper to sales leader. Takes charge of his career growth. Believes our Company’s success begins with us.

Chad Slygh started his career with Chicago Tube & Iron in January 1997. He worked in the shop in various roles from cutting on the saws to first shift Lead. After almost six years, he was promoted to Inside Sales. In 2019, he was promoted to Account Specialist, a hybrid sales role that involves outside and inside sales. He’s a member of the St. Paul, MN team and works remotely from his home near Duluth, MN.

Every day, Chad strives to meet or exceed the goals set for him. These goals provide a method of measuring his success – and he’s been extremely successful. In fact, his proudest moment in his 25 years with the Company is when he made the Chicago Tube & Iron Top 10 in Sales. This recognition acknowledged Chad’s hard work and reaffirmed the respect others have for him and his accomplishments.

“From starting his career in the warehouse to being one of the division’s top salespeople, he’s developed a foundation of Safety and operational experience and turned it into a customer-focused mindset,” Mitch Patterson, General Manager for CTI’s St. Paul facility, explains. “Chad represents the entire concept of loyalty – to his customers and the Company. He is relentless with his hard work, positive attitude and commitment to success.”

Chad takes the lead in his career development by completing as many training and development opportunities as he can. Prior to moving into Inside Sales, he attended a public speaking course to improve his interactions with others, and throughout his career, he’s participated in CTI’s monthly sales and product training classes to increase his knowledge. These educational opportunities have contributed to Chad’s success.

Chad works remotely, but that doesn’t stop him from finding ways to connect with his co-workers. “I can be part of the team by contributing to the bottom line – from 200 miles north of the facility,” he explains. “I strive to be the best and sell the most. I also enjoy finding ways to help others do the same. Because helping each other succeed helps the division succeed, and ultimately, the Company.”

With 25 years of experience in developing his own successful career, Chad offers this advice to others looking to do the same: “Stay positive, have a great attitude and don’t hesitate to share your ideas that can benefit the team.”
