Ivonne McCauley

Inventory Control Supervisor – Contract Accounts, Specialty Metals, Winder, GA

Strives to understand individual perspectives. Solutions seeker. Believes knowledge is power.

Setting goals, building relationships and continuously learning is how Ivonne has set herself apart. Born and raised in Mexico City, Mexico, Ivonne graduated from college and headed to the United States to begin a career in the metals industry.

In her 32 years in the stainless industry, she’s worked in Sales Administration, Inside Sales Management, E-Commerce, Reporting and Analysis, Information Technology and Supply Chain Management. In 2018, she began working for Olympic Steel at the Schaumburg, IL division. After about a year, she moved to the Winder, GA division to handle specialty metals supply chain management with several major accounts. Her current responsibilities include critical elements of inventory control, including sales, quality assurance and customer relations.

Ivonne’s extensive experience in the industry has helped her identify and implement process improvements to better meet customer requirements. “When we were not meeting a customer’s expectations, I reviewed the process and implemented changes that eliminated errors. At one point, I filled in for an Inside Sales Representative and seeing their process in action helped me identify improvement opportunities,” she explained.

Learning new things has been a big part of Ivonne’s career. She says, “The Specialty Team has taught me so much about aluminum and their support has been an important part of my education and growth.”

Ivonne likes to challenge her brain. “Solving problems and looking for the best solutions to keep customers happy – that makes me happy,” she says. She also likes working with her peers, offering her product and process knowledge to others to get things accomplished. Ivonne says, “It’s about working together to be the best we can be.”

Throughout her career, Ivonne has been learning more, sharing knowledge and offering solutions to help herself, her co-workers and the Company get better. Her desire to continuously improve is what has helped build her strong career and she offers this advice to others who want to do the same: “Don’t be afraid to ask questions, especially about the Company, our processes and our procedures. And when you encounter a problem or issue, also offer a solution.”
