Keeping an Eye on Your Health

Vision problems may be an early indicator of more serious medical conditions.

Did you know your eyes can show how healthy your heart is? It’s true!

According to a survey by VSP Vision Care, only 1% of people know that signs of common diseases and conditions, such as diabetes and high blood pressure, can be detected during your eye exam.

If these conditions are left untreated, they can cause eye diseases like diabetic retinopathy, hypertensive retinopathy and macular degeneration. All of these can cause serious vision issues or complete loss of sight, if left untreated.

It is crucial to take care of your eyes as part of your overall health – not only for those who wear glasses or contacts.

Schedule an Eye Exam Today

If you don’t already have an established history with an eye doctor, visit vsp.com to find a doctor near work or home – and schedule your eye exam today. Remember, you won’t receive a vision card (and your medical card is NOT for vision benefits). The eye doctor will check your coverage using your social security number, last name and birth date.

And, if you schedule your eye exam on the same day as your annual wellness exam, you can use your Healthy Day Off to get paid for the day and to qualify for the 2022 WellPerks Wellness Incentive. The deadline to complete your annual wellness exam to qualify for the Wellness Incentive is September 30, 2022.
