Mental Health Day: October 10

“There is no health without mental health.” – World Federation for Mental Health

Twenty-eight years ago, on October 10, 1992, the World Federation for Mental Health observed the first World Mental Health Day – a day intended to raise awareness in the global community about mental health.

Mental illness is nothing to be ashamed of. Illnesses like Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Depression, Anxiety and Eating Disorders are becoming more prevalent. The good news is they are treatable – especially, when people are not hindered by stigma or misconceptions.

Olympic Steel provides resources through the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and the Olympic Steel medical plan to help employees and their family members understand and treat mental illnesses. These resources include:

  • Employee Assistance Program: The EAP provides many services, one of which is confidential counseling. Trained clinicians will listen to your concerns and quickly refer you to in-person counseling and provide other resources for whatever you may be dealing with mental health conditions, including stress, anxiety, depression, grief and substance abuse.

Contact ComPsych® GuidanceResources® anytime for confidential assistance in any of the following ways:

  • Virtual Visits – Behavioral Health: UHC Telemental Health offers virtual counseling services – real-time visits with a behavioral health professional from the comfort of your own home.

These services are provided as part of your behavioral health benefits through UnitedHealthcare. To learn more about Telemental Health or to schedule a visit, go to myuhc.com and click on Mental Health to go to LiveandWorkWell.com. Once you create a login, you’ll have access to additional resources and information that can help you understand and manage your illness.

If you or a family member need mental health support, the treatment and support you need are available. Use the EAP or UnitedHealthcare’s Telemental Health services to get help today.
