Michael Siegal Honored with MSCI Lifetime Achievement Award

“Michael instilled an enduring set of core values, grounded in a commitment to hard work, quality, customer service, and giving back to our communities.”

Honoring a 45-year career that transformed Olympic Steel into a $1.7 billion public company, the Metals Service Center Institute (MSCI) presented Michael Siegal, Olympic Steel’s Executive Chairman, with a Lifetime Achievement Award at their annual meeting in May.

Presented to only a select few, this honor recognizes a legacy of contributions to the metal industry.

Michael joined Olympic Steel, his family’s business, in 1974, took the company public in 1994, and served as CEO for 34 years, until assuming the role of Executive Chairman in January 2019. Under his leadership, the company grew not only in number of locations, but also in the diversity of products.

But when it comes to Michael’s greatest contribution to the industry, MSCI’s announcement perhaps sums it up best: “Michael instilled an enduring set of core values, grounded in a commitment to hard work, quality, customer service, and giving back to our communities.”
