Ron Morrill

Warehouse Lead, Chicago Tube & Iron, Indianapolis, IN

Establishes goals to drive his performance. Credits his team for his success. Believes the best is yet to come.

“Great leaders don’t set out to be a leader,” says Lisa Haisha, life coach, motivational speaker, and best-selling author. “They set out to make a difference. It’s never about the role – always about the goal.”

As Warehouse Lead at Chicago Tube & Iron’s Indianapolis, IN facility, Ron Morrill is focused on the goal.

He started his career at CTI in April 2007 as General Warehouse, then moved to a second shift Lead position – the only Lead in the division. When Combo Drivers were needed to fill-in for full-time Drivers, Ron obtained his Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and moved to day shift, adding Combo Driver to his list of qualifications. He can do every job in the plant and backs-up the Plant Manager when he’s gone. He currently supervises plant operations as the Warehouse Lead, and is working toward achieving his long-term goal of Plant Manager.

In his almost 14 years of employment, Ron is most proud of his nomination, election and participation as First Chairperson in the Company-wide Safety Committee established in January 2020. The committee identifies areas that need to be improved and documents safety issues. Representatives from each CTI location work together to improve safety across the Company. As a member of this committee, Ron has found yet another way to showcase his commitment to accomplishing great things – for himself and others.

That’s what makes Ron happy to come to work each day – having the opportunity to make progress toward his goals by accomplishing everyday tasks. He emphasizes that it’s not just about getting things done, but more about always doing your best and working with others to help them do their best, too.

Ron believes strongly that the little things you do every day are what lead to your success and will help you build a strong career with the Company. He says, “You need to show up prepared and ready to work hard, work together and work with integrity. Because working with integrity means you do what’s right while no one’s looking. Those are the moments when you’ll really shine.”

Ron Chalos, General Manager at Chicago Tube & Iron’s Indianapolis, IN facility, has had the pleasure of working with Ron Morrill for over five years and couldn’t agree more with identifying him as a leader, as he is always focused on the goals for his team. “I’ve watched Ron develop his own leadership skills and style over the past five years. The way he interacts with others inspires them to work with a passion and commitment equal to his own.”
