Southeast Region Makes Wishes Come True

Olympic Steel divisions in Georgia and Alabama worked together to raise over $10,000 to benefit the Make-A-Wish® Georgia Chapter in 2020.

Although the 2020 Working for Wishes campaign looked very different last year, our Southeast Region pushed hard to raise enough money to sponsor a wish for their local chapter, Make-A-Wish® Georgia (MAWGA). To grant a wish, the region needed to raise at least $10,000. They did that with a little room to spare!

The division manufactured and sold steel snowflake ornaments, hosted (COVID-safe) lunches, sold coupon books, held raffles and received donations to accumulate $10,204 to support Olympic Steel’s Working for Wishes campaign and Georgia’s Make-A-Wish® Chapter.

Katie Shahzade, Manager of Corporate Development for MAWGA, was excited to share the news that Olympic Steel’s Southeast Region made a wish come true. “A special wish came true because of YOU! Your efforts were incredibly impactful to our chapter and to this sweet family.”

Ziyan, the region’s Wish Child, wished to have a treehouse. He enjoys spending time outdoors, and the treehouse gives him a fun place to watch birds, play games and spend time with his sister. Read more about the Ziyan’s story here.

It’s the small efforts throughout the year that add up to accomplish the greater goal of granting a wish. The Southeast Region already kicked off their 2021 fundraising efforts with a flower sale early in February. Congratulations to the Buford, Winder and Hanceville teams for working together to make wishes come true!
