April 28 is World Health and Safety Day – a day to recognize ways to build a positive safety and health culture.
Last week, we celebrated Earth Day – a day to recognize and encourage behaviors that may help us leave our planet in better shape for generations to come. Sticking with that theme, on April 28, we celebrate World Health and Safety Day.
World Health and Safety Day is recognized by different organizations for various reasons, but one common theme remains: promote a safe and healthy environment inside and outside of work.
The Occupational Health and Safety Administration, known as OSHA, has established standards for industries that are designed to create a safe and healthy working environment with defined rights, responsibilities and duties. The highest priority is given to the principle of prevention – and this is where we can have the biggest impact on our overall health and safety.
Whether it’s preventive health care to keep our minds and bodies functioning properly or Safety practices that help us identify and prevent accidents and injuries, World Health and Safety Day is a great day to consider what you’re doing to make your health and safety a priority.
