2020 Safety Stats Wrap-Up and Review

Two divisions with ZERO injuries in 2020 and over 50% improvement in three KPI categories IS relentless dedication to Safety!

2020 Safety Stats are in, and we can all be proud of our combined results!

Our relentless dedication to putting the health and safety of Olympic Steel employees first is evident in the January 2021 Safety Report (data through December 2020).

CONGRATULATIONS to two divisions who completed 2020 with ZERO OSHA recordable occupational injuries or illnesses:

  • Olympic Steel – Dover, OH
  • Olympic Steel – Mount Sterling, KY

Our Key Performance Indicators (KPI) showed improvement in all three categories – OSHA recordable injuries, Other Case Incident Rate (OCIR) injury events and Days Away, Restricted or Transferred (DART) injury events.

  • OSHA recordable injuries decreased 55.4%, from 101 in 2019 to 45 in 2020
  • OCIR decreased 58.1%, from 43 in 2019 to 18 in 2020
  • DART decreased 53.4%, from 58 in 2019 to 27 in 2020

Watch for division-specific statistics and a 2020 Baseline Safety Objectives Progress Report later this quarter. In the meantime, keep the discipline and continue this great momentum into 2021!
