Account Representative, Chicago Tube & Iron, Indianapolis, IN
Solution seeker. Loves connecting with customers. Excited to see her impact on the industry.
In 2006, Debbie Smith began a career at the CTI Indianapolis, IN location as an Inside Sales Representative. She says, “I love being an Account Representative! Finding material for customers and landing new jobs is exciting. Each day, I get to help customers and the Company.”
She’s proud of the work she does and is especially excited when she can see the products sold in their finished form. “I can find my footprint in a lot of different areas,” she says. “When I go to any place where we’ve sold steel – an airport parking lot renovation or truck or building. I’m proud to say we had a part in that.”
Debbie credits great managers, like Gene Ambler and Rick Raifford, who have supported her throughout her career. And, the cohesive team at CTI’s Indianapolis, IN location who has made work a great place to be. “We’re a family. It’s a joy to go in to work each day,” explains Debbie.
“I’ve developed great relationships with customers over the past 27 years,” she says. “It’s fun to connect with them and be part of their lives.” Developing relationships is a big part of sales, and Debbie has done that by staying positive and focused on finding the best possible solution – for the Company and the customer – to any challenge that comes her way.
Tony Horniacek, General Manager of the CTI Indianapolis location, says Debbie has proven to be a top performer in the industry and a true leader for CTI. He explains, “She played a pivotal role in the successful launch of our new ERP system last year, going above and beyond to ensure all of her peers were trained and supported while still maintaining top notch customer service. With her big heart and tireless work ethic, you can see that she truly cares about her customers, their needs and the countless relationships she has built over her 20-year career.”
Whether she’s closing a new sale or tackling a challenging task, Debbie follows her parent’s advice: “No matter what you do – big or little – put your best foot forward and do everything you can to be successful.”
“Because when you’ve done your best,” she explains, “you can be proud of what you’ve done.”
