Giddy Up for Milford's Safety Rodeo

Our Milford, CT division hosted their first Safety Rodeo to show team members that they can have fun while working together to improve the safety culture.

Our Milford, CT division thought outside the box to get their team excited about Safety. On September 20, they hosted a Safety Rodeo – rodeo because it’s a contest, safety because it’s all about Safety, plus – a BBQ food truck! Instead of showing off cattle roping or horse-riding skills, employees showed off their safety skills by participating in a Safety Quiz, a Hazard Recognition Treasure Hunt and a Forklift Skills Challenge.

Safety Quiz: Team members completed a quiz that contained basic safety questions about the Milford Division. It generated safety conversations between co-workers and got them to think about safety no matter their role at the division.

Hazard Recognition Treasure Hunt: Teams of 2-3 employees competed to identify safety hazards in a designated area near machinery in the warehouse. This was a great event to familiarize employees with the area who don’t usually spend time near the slitter.

Forklift Skills Challenge: Team members were given a short one-on-one training by one of Milford’s Certified Forklift Trainers before completing a forklift skills test.

What a great way to get everyone involved and interested in Safety! Congratulations to the contest winners:
