Go-getter. Found her home in the metals industry. Loves her job and her team.
“I love it here and I’m staying until I retire,” says Teresa Fox, Inside Sales at the Action Stainless Rock Hill, SC location.
Teresa has been in manufacturing since she graduated from high school. She began packaging fasteners, then moved to the nuclear industry. In 2018, she found a home and her career in Inside Sales at Action Stainless. “I do a little bit of everything and I’m here to help anybody and everybody,” she says. “It’s not my job, it’s our job.”
She’s proud of the work she does each day. Teresa handles core accounts along with the other sales representatives at the division and is most proud of her involvement with the team in growing and developing an existing customer, now one of the division’s largest accounts.
Teresa credits her team members for helping her learn as much as she can about the business in the last five years. Says Teresa, “I’ve been in the industry for many years and have learned a lot, but since I’ve been here, John McAuliffe, General Manager (then Outside Sales Representative), took the time to teach me everything I needed to know about my job, the machines and the processes here at Action Stainless.”
As a hands-on learner, Teresa still tries to learn something new as often as she can by reaching out directly to the subject matter expert (SME) to learn more. “I want to be educated about what I’m talking about – whether it’s with a customer or a coworker,” she says.
Teresa is happy to come to work each day with a smile on her face, thanking “the man upstairs” for getting her out of bed and to work safely. “I LOVE my job and that makes me happy to go to work each day. We’re one big family who works together and gets along. It’s a place where people aren’t afraid to raise their hand to ask for assistance and someone is always willing help,” she explains. “It’s my home away from home!” That’s high praise, coming from Teresa who regards her family members as her world and identifies them as the source of her strength and positivity.
“Teresa shows up every day with a positive attitude and encourages those around her. She understands how important it is to Be Safe and demonstrates that consistently,” says Dana Beard, Human Resources and Safety Manager. “She is direct, firm and a results-oriented leader in the Rock Hill facility.”
That positive attitude is present, even when she’s tackling a challenge. “The only way to tackle a challenge is to jump in, figure out the details, then make a plan to resolve the issue,” she says. “If that doesn’t work, then I go back to square one until everyone is satisfied – the customer, the Company and me.”
After years of working in the manufacturing sector, Teresa says she found a career with Inside Sales and the metals industry. She loves her job and the opportunities available to meet different people with different experiences. For others who are ready to find their “home” in the metals industry, she offers this advice: “Be yourself, do your job, always be willing to learn more and work hard.”
