Our 2023 Safety Action Plan has many ways for you to take an active role in safety at your division.
WOW! We have big plans for Safety in 2023!
But before we get into that, let’s review our 2022 performance:
Lagging Indicators, or Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), are measurements of events that have happened. These occupational injury and illness events are divided by our hours worked and roll-up into our incident rates. OSI’s Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) at the end of 2022 was 3.8 events per 100-FTEs. When compared to 2021, we saw an improvement in the number of recordables and our TRIR.
26% Improvement in the number of OSHA Recordables
23.5% Improvement in TRIR
Leading Indicators are Key Activity Indicators (KAIs) for Safety performance. They incorporate activities related to safety, such as training, weekly safety walks, safety committee meetings, hazard recognition, poka yokes and near miss reporting. Again, when compared to 2021 data, we are showing improvement.
59% more Near Misses Reported and Operational Learnings Captured
98% More Safety Improvement Projects Completed
57% More Safety Actions Completed
2023 Safety Action Plan
As mentioned above, our Safety Action Plan falls into the Key Activity Indicators category. We made big strides in 2022 and we’re continuing that momentum in 2023 by focusing on these 10 action items:
