Text Communications Auto-Enrollment
In an effort to streamline communications and get important messages directly in front of the people who need to see it, Text Communications will become our primary method for alerting employees when important information is available.
Effective Friday, August 25, all employees who weren’t previously subscribed to the Olympic Steel text messaging list will be automatically subscribed. This means your cell number on record will be added to the text communications recipient list and you’ll begin to receive messages from Olympic Steel Company Communications (833.765.0153).
WHAT THIS MEANS
- Already enrolled: You won’t notice anything different. You’ll continue to receive messages just like before.
- Newly enrolled: When you receive the first company text, you will also receive a compliance message that you’ve been enrolled. (Thanks for joining the Olympic Steel text messaging list.) Once you receive that message – you’re enrolled! You can stop receiving messages at any time by texting “STOP” to the same number you received the message from.
WHY WE’RE DOING THIS
For over three years, we’ve consistently used a few methods of communication to reach as many people as possible with important Company messages. Email, texts, posters, articles or meetings – the preference for communicating important information varies from person to person and overlapping messages, we’ve found, isn’t necessarily increasing our reach.
So, after careful thought and analysis of the data/feedback – Text Communications will be our primary method of sharing information with employees. This is a great way to get information to Olympic Steel employees because everyone, no matter their role or location, has a phone. You can look at the information when you have time, and almost every message will include a link that takes you straight to the content you need.
We’ll still use the other forms of communication for business-critical content as outlined below.
