Dedicated family man. Always ready to work hard. Focused on the future.
Eleven years ago, Tom applied for a job at Chicago Tube & Iron’s Des Moines, IA location. His Dad, a driver for an outside carrier, told him CTI was hiring for the warehouse. As a young man in his early twenties, Tom accepted the position and knew it would be the start of something great.
He’s proud to have literally grown up as a person, while also growing with the Company. Tom says, “My wife and two daughters are the reason I work so hard, and Chicago Tube & Iron has given me the opportunity to provide a good living for my family.”
To help provide for his family, Tom has taken advantage of the Company’s 401(k) program to secure a strong financial future. And, he’s received support from his supervisor, Ron Adkison, General Manager, through career planning conversations to discuss future opportunities with the Company and what it takes to get there.
“Tom sets the standard of an Olympian,” Ron says. “He comes to work with a positive, whatever-it-takes attitude every day. He is dedicated to Safety, as the Branch Safety Director, and leads by example. Tom has earned the respect of each employee by setting a standard for excellence and exceeding that expectation.”
Tom is committed to staying focused and driven toward his future success. He rarely has downtime at work, and that makes him happy. As the Warehouse Lead, Tom is the go-to for other employees when they have questions or need help. “I like a job that keeps me busy,” he says. “Even when you finish a task, there’s always something to organize or an opportunity to improve efficiency.”
When asked for his advice for others on how to be successful and build a great career with the Company, Tom makes it simple: “Come in every day and work hard. Show how much you want to be there by your willingness to do the work – using those opportunities to contribute to your success and the Company’s success.”
