Helping Each Other Help the Community

From January through August, employees across the Company have supported over 14 organizations through monetary donations and needed supplies.

Corporate Citizenship Committees across the Company work hard all year long to support local and national causes, finding ways for employees to get involved and make a difference.

So far in 2022, here’s how we’ve helped in our communities where we live and work:

  • Action Stainless & Alloys – Hosted blood drives in April and July to support Carter BloodCare. Donors at those two events provided enough donations to save 57 lives!
  • Berlin Metals, Hammond, IN – Collected employee donations to support the Make-A-Wish Foundation ($1,000) and the American Red Cross for Ukraine ($2,306).
  • Chicago Tube & Iron, Romeoville, IL – St. Patrick’s Day fundraiser to support Guardian Angels raised $4,100.
  • McCullough Industries, Kenton, OH – In July, the team supported Angels for the Elderly by collecting donations and supplies for the monthly food boxes for the elderly. Later than month, the Comms Team helped deliver the monthly packages directly to those in need.
  • Olympic Steel, Bedford Heights, OH – Clothing Drive in January to support local shelters; Sponsor for the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women event in February; collaborated with the Cleveland, OH and Dover, OH divisions to raise $600 and collect medical supplies for the American Red Cross and MED WISH for Ukraine. In April, they collected donations for Harvest for Hunger. And, in early August, supported a Children’s Hunger Alliance event in Downtown Cleveland. Currently selling coupon books at Corporate, Cleveland and Dover to support the Working for Wishes campaign.
  • Olympic Steel, Bettendorf, IA – In February, employees supported the American Heart Association by wearing red, selling and wearing Red Dress pins and raffle tickets sales; In March, the division raised $810 for Mercy Waters in Cedar Rapids, IA to directly support Ukraine with water and necessary supplies; On March 30, the team purchased lunch for all employees from Jersey Mike’s – 100% of the proceeds from that lunch benefitted the Special Olympics. To date, they’ve raised over $4000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Hosted a blood drive in August to support the American Red Cross, helping at least 30 people.
  • Olympic Steel, Chambersburg, PA – Accepted donations of dog/cat food, treats, blankets and toys, and raised $540 with a 50/50 Raffle to support the Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter
  • Olympic Steel, Milford, CT – Completed their annual fundraiser in the spring to support Milestone Behavioral Services for Autism Awareness. Began Working for Wishes fundraising in June and broke a division record by raising $1,700!

  • Olympic Steel, Schaumburg, IL – February luncheon to support the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women. The division hosted their 2021 Wish Child with a catered event at the facility. They raise money all year long to support the Working for Wishes campaign; so far this year, with Jeans Days, March Madness and raffles, they’ve collected over $5,000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation!
