Let’s Celebrate Our Differences

During Celebrate Diversity Month we recognize and honor our differences to help create interaction, opportunity and inclusion.

April is Celebrate Diversity Month, a time to recognize and honor the diversity that surrounds us. Celebrating the unique cultures, backgrounds and traditions that define who we are individually helps create interaction, opportunity and inclusion collectively.

Celebrating diversity and sharing our authentic selves helps us gain a greater appreciation of each other. Understanding and respecting our differences can make the world (near and far) a better place for everyone. Here are some ways you can do just that:

• Support diverse businesses
• Host a multicultural event, like a movie night, with family and/or friends
• Visit a cultural art exhibit
• Play music from around the world
• Engage in conversation with someone from another culture about their background
• Explore local ethnic restaurants and try foods from a different culture
  

And, our differences are not strictly defined by cultural or physical differences. Unique ways of working and communicating can offer opportunities to learn a different approach and think about creative and more empathetic and inclusive ways we can all work together most effectively. Understanding and respecting these differences is the first step to finding value in what all team members bring to the table. We don’t all have to do things the exact same way to be successful. In fact, having different approaches to tackling a project or challenge can teach us all new ways of working. Because, we’re stronger together.
